According to a study conducted in 2021 by the Pakistan Psychiatry Society, approximately 34% of Pakistan`s population suffers from some form of mental illness.
The Pakistan Association for Mental Health reported that 65 million people in the country suffer from depression or anxiety-related disorders.
Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences research found that workplace stress is significantly associated with mental health problems in Pakistani professionals. Long working hours, toxicity, job insecurity, sexual harrassment and lack of support systems contribute to these issues.
According to a report by the Pakistan Business Council, mental health related absenteeism, presenteeism (being present at work but not fully productive), and turnover costs the Pakistani economy around PKR 363 billion (approximately $1.3 billion) annually.
