“This is not end, let’s start again”

Four months back XYZ was referred by a psychiatrist for psychotherapy. When she came for therapy sessions she was quiet and not willing to talk. Her brother reported that she became aggressive on minor things, like to stay alone, self-talking behavior, disturbed sleep and loss of appetite. During the session her brother got emotional and with tearful eyes he said he wants to get her treatment so that she gets better and acts like other family members.

After four to five sessions she started sharing only daily routine; she did not want to talk about anything else. However, later she started feeling comfortable and shared her problems such as anger issues, lack of interest in daily routine activities, relationship conflicts, mood swings and other issues. Later, she also showed interest in making therapy goals.

Later, her daily routine chart was prepared by a psychologist which she is following on a daily basis. According to her, this daily activity schedule helps her a lot to get herself out from overthinking and she is able to overcome mood swings. Moreover, thoughts alteration taught her so that she could be aware of problematic thoughts. According to her, now she is able to think before reacting and can alter negative automatic thoughts which is refraining her to overcome overthinking due to this her anger is now under control.

Now her daily routine is going well and she is fulfilling all daily routine tasks properly. She is taking interest in family gatherings and expressing her point of view in front of all. Further, it is planned to work on coping skills so that relapse can be prevented because she has realized that this is not the end, and she is much motivated to start a happy life once again.
