Bob’s Journey with Karwan-e-Hayat

Bob*, a retired pilot by profession and a father of two kids, was admitted to Karwan-e-Hayat some time ago and was diagnosed with drug-induced psychosis, resulting in frequent display of violent behavior. He was initially given medication by the consultant with rehabilitation activities suggested after a week. Bob was hesitant to participate in any activity for the first few days, but with constant coaxing there was progressive improvement in his behavior after a while. Noticeable improvements included reading the daily newspaper, active participation in yoga, daily gym exercises, playing chess to keep his mind busy and most importantly, socializing with other patients and hospital staff. Through regular counselling and timely medication, Bob now has a clear insight about his illness and is learning coping mechanisms to include in his daily routine.
