April 24, 2025 – Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho Visits Karwan-e-Hayat to Inaugurate SCIMITAR Programme

On Thursday, 24th April 2025, Karwan-e-Hayat had the honour of hosting Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Honourable Minister for Health & Population Welfare, Sindh. The visit marked a significant moment for mental and public health in the province, as it featured the Sindh launch of the SCIMITAR-South Asia Programme—a collaborative effort focused on integrating mental and physical health care—with contributions from Prof. Imran Bashir Chaudhry, Mrs. Qaisra Ahmed, Dr. Chooni Lal (JPMC), and Prof. Washdev Amar (DUHS).

The Minister also participated in a World Immunization Week Awareness Session, alongside Dr. Raj Kumar, Program Director, EPI Sindh. The event emphasized the importance of immunization and public health, concluding with a media Q&A.

Dr. Azra was given a guided tour of Karwan-e-Hayat’s facilities, showcasing our work in patient care, psychiatric rehabilitation, and community outreach. The visit concluded with a tree plantation ceremony, symbolizing a shared commitment to health, sustainability, and community wellbeing.
