Karwan-e-Hayat receives donation from Pakistan State Oil
Pakistan State Oil made a generous donation of Rs500,000 to Karwan-e-Hayat in acknowledgement of our services and welfare of psychiatric patients in Karachi. We are very grateful to Pakistan State Oil for the amount.

Karwan recognized for its efforts
Karwan-e-Hayat received an award in recognition of its efforts toward inclusive approach for people with disabilities at the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The program was organized by the Aurat Foundation and supported and sponsored by the Ministry of Social Welfare department of the Sindh Government, Handicap International Karachi and the Provincial Council for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PCRDP) at the Arts Council of Pakistan.

The award was given by chief guest Mr Sharique Ahmed, secretary Ministry of Social Welfare department of Sindh.

The theme of the program was “Together for a Better future in development including persons with disabilities”. It was an effort to raise awareness on the rights of disabled persons and to laud the effort of various NGOs in their inclusion in development.

World Mental Health Day celebrated at Karwan-e-Hayat

Karwan-e-Hayat’s Korangi Community Psychiatry Centre has entered into collaboration with Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust who donated a wing to Karwan-e-Hayat at their Maria Medical Centre in Chakra Goth, Korangi to organize rehabilitative activities for mentally ill patients. Activities include: vocational assessment and training, counseling, games and sports, handicrafts, and life skills training.

Eid Milan Party for patients at PCRC

An Eid Milan Party was organized by the Department of Rehabilitation Services for the patients at PCRC. Famous singer and social activist Mr. Shehzad Roy made a special appearance at the program which was extremely encouraging for the patients attending the party.

Patients and staff had prepared songs to singat the event. They had also decorated the room themselves and arrange games to play. Mr. Zaheerudin Babar, CEO Karwan-e-Hayat and Dr. Ajmal Kazmi, senior consultant psychiatrist at Karwan spoke about the services of Karwan-e-Hayat and thanked MR. Shehzad Roy for taking out time for the party.

The well-planned party was arranged by two groups who took responsibility for the décor, menu, flowers, prizes, etc. They decorated the hall with buntings and balloons. The patients were very happy and in the spirit of Eid their faces lit up with excitement.

Mr. Zaheeruddin Babar and Dr. Ajmal Kazmi joined MR. Shehzad Roy in cutting the Eid Cake for the patients and staff. Mr. Shehzad Roy also distributed gifts and prizes among the participants.

The main objective of such parties is to encourage and motivate patients to rebuild their social skills and regain confidence.

Fundraising Event 2015

Friends of Karwan-e-Hayat arranged a fundraising event on Saturday 21st February and Sunday 22nd February 2015 at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. The program entitled “umeed-e-Sehar ki Bat Suno – Song of Hope and Freedom”, was a musical stage show composed and produced by Arshad Mahmud and presented by the students and musicians of NAPA – The National Academy of Performing Arts.

National Bank of Pakistan Donates to Karwan-e-Hayat

We thank National Bank of Pakistan for donating to Karwan-e-Hayat. The donation has helped us in providing free consultation, medicines, and meals to poor mentally ill patients in Karachi.
